Frozen-themed Valentines: Olaf You!

Hello everyone. Happy Valentine's Day!

We found little Olaf-themed jelly beans at our local grocery store and bought a box. I thought they'd be perfect for some punny Valentines.

They were super easy to make. My 6-year-old wrote: "Valentine, 'Olaf' you! XO Cory" on small strips of paper. Then we glued the strips onto some red polka dot scrapbook paper.

We attached the strips to the jelly bean packets and that was it. Super quick and easy and who doesn't love Olaf?!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's weekend!

Easy Valentine Collection Bags: Kindergarten Craft

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!  Cory's kindergarten class celebrated the holiday at school yesterday. We made these owl treat bags to hold their valentines. Easier and cheaper than the traditional Valentine box.

I made the samples above for the class: boy and girl owls with wiggly eyes, a doily middle and little heart feet.

I used kraft bags from the gift bag aisle at Michaels. The bags were sold by the dozen (a baker's dozen, actually) for $5.99. The bags measure 5.5 inches across and 8.5 inches tall. Perfect for this simple craft.

Two of the boys made these fun versions. Got to love the bug on the heart! Ha!

Above are versions the girls made. So sweet. I love how they all turned out.

This was a really fast craft for the class. They finished in about 15 minutes. Almost too fast as we had an hour to fill for the party!

After the bags were made, the kids distributed their Valentines. Or more accurately, I should say, the kids distributed the candy they brought in for class. It looked like Halloween!  From the 24 kids in the class, Cory received one handmade Valentine, one traditional store bought card and 22 pieces of Valentine candy with a sticker wrapped around it. Truth in blogging: the "valentines" that Cory brought to school were in that latter category. No stones here!

The one lone handmade Valentine. Yoda best! Love it!

Easy Layouts Using A Grid: My Creative Scrapbook

Hello everyone!

I'm finishing up my projects with the February kit from My Creative Scrapbook and have saved my favorite for last.

This is my sweet little guy in his red wagon, enjoying a treat on a balmy Valentine's Day.

The February Creative Kit features the Yours Truly collection from Pebbles Inc and I was immediately drawn to this adorable paper:

I knew I wanted to feature those cute Valentines, so I carefully trimmed the inside squares, leaving the outer border.

The flip side of this paper is a pretty floral and I used that to border my layout. On the inside, I placed the valentine cards in a grid around my photo. The watermark on the photo was a rub-on from the kit. It worked perfectly!

Here's another look at the final layout. It was so fun to do!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great week!

Mini Envelope Valentine Frame

Hello everyone and Happy Valentine’s Day!

I love re-purposing old frames. Today I am up on the Fancy Pants Designs blog with a Valentine project using a standard 5 x 7 inch wood frame.

I got the idea to do a frame of little love letters after finding this McGill envelope punch at a thrift sale for $3. It makes the cutest little envelopes.

I punched several envelopes from double sided paper from the Be Loved collection from Fancy Pants Designs.  It's such a sweet collection. I love the mix of yellow, aqua and grey with traditional pink and red.

The base of the project is the pretty yellow side of the Adoration paper from Be Loved, trimmed 5 x 7 inches to fit a standard frame. I added the mini envelopes I had punched then decorated them with buttons, stickers and ephemera.

After the piece was complete, I added a bright blue bird and a sentiment to the outer frame.

Here’s another look at the final project.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope your day is extra sweet!
